“Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behaviour and information processing. They open you up to the possibility that everything you know is wrong.” -Terence McKenna
In December of 2018 Nik became the President and Founder of WSU Chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy
SSDP is a harm reduction, compassion-based, educational grass-roots movement trying to end the War on Drugs.
Our chapter held guest lectures with professors from around campus on drug education for topics such as Psychedelics, Opiates, and Indigienous Plant Use.
We found that students were really interested in these topics, especially Psychedelics (we had people standing in the hall it was so packed!)
but that often students do not feel they have a place where they can learn about these things safely and without
misinformation. In response to this observation and the lack of suitable harm reduction education around drugs other than alcohol,
we created a harm reduction, drug education program to be taught to Greek Life. When we weren't holding meetings
we tabled on the mall to spread awareness and information about safety and where students can find more information.
